We turn promising projects into sustainable new business

Internal start-ups assume promising projects from the Science-to-Business centers and Project Houses to turn them into profitable and sustainable businesses outside of the focus of the business units. Internal start-ups develop the business from the ground up until revenues and earnings of a typical middle-range product line can be realized. Only then, the business will be integrated into an Evonik business unit. The segment Internal Start-ups has already initiated a number of new businesses. The internal Start-up AdNano, dealing with nano materials, has been partly inte-grated into the business segment Inorganic Materials in that way, with the other part being integrated into the Science-to-Business Center Nanotronics.

The start-up DHC, working in the field of catalysis, has been integrated into the business segment Health & Nutrition. All start-ups share the common task of work-ing out target-oriented business strategies and realizing them by means of partner-ships or cooperations in the marketplace. An above-average profitability needs to be demonstrated. Deployment of human resources and capital is based on the same decision criteria that external investors would apply.
