Science-to-Business Center Eco²

Where ecology meets economy

The S2B-Center Eco² bundles existing company expertise in the fields of energy efficiency and climate protection. Core competence of the relevant business units and business areas is upheld by incorporating them into the development projects.

Broadly ranging from architects to life scientists to even power plant engineers, approximately 50 employees functioning in interdisciplinary groups, work at the S2B-Center in Marl or elsewhere in their respective business units.

Successfully applying the latest scientific developments as new products or applications is only possible with collaboration. Fundamental research is thus provided by equally integrated external partners from academia, research institutes and other specialized companies. As a starting point, those innovative energy efficient and climate protective ideas were first identified.

Particular consideration has been placed on those midterm economically attractive products and services with high CO2 savings potential for both our costumers and our own Evonik processes. Life Cycle Management (LCM) plays a crucial decisive role in the evaluation of all potentially new technologies.

Officially launched on October 1st, 2008, the S2B Center Eco² is divided into five lines of development.
