Energy Efficiency Customer Solutions

How to improve energy efficiency for customers?

The goal of this line of development is to create innovative products in the field of insulation and lightweight construction in order to lower the energy consumption and therefore reduce CO2 emissions.

Approximately 80% of the worldwide fossil fuels (oil, gas and coal) are being combusted for heat generation and transportation of humans and goods, respectively. As a result these two areas account for the vast majority of anthropogenic CO2 emissions.

The main focus is investigating innovative methods for weight reduction in the transportation sector and on improving building insulation. Here these goals are achieved through pooling the knowledge of Evonik’s core competencies. Intelligent building insulation is an example of this research focal point. Consider a system in which heating and cooling demands are reduced through facades and windows that adjust automatically to climatic conditions. A further potential topic of interest is developing new lightweight construction materials for aircraft and vehicles. New construction materials are aimed at reducing the specific fuel consumption.

Life Cycle Management (LCM) plays a crucial decisive role in the evaluation of all potentially new technologies at S2B Eco².
