How to improve the energy efficiency of Evonik`s processes?

The goal of this line of development is to significantly increase the energy savings potential of Evonik production processes by utilizing alternative technologies.

There are still unused potentials in both chemical as well as in power generating processes to increase the energy efficiency that lead to an accompanying reduction of CO2 emissions. Highly energy consuming thermal separation processes and low calorific heat streams from chemical and power generating systems can be for instance replaced and better utilized through innovative processes.

The main focus is investigating innovative methods for increasing the efficiency of coal-fired power plants in combination with better materials use. A further energy savings potential is demonstrated by the smart utilization of hard coal generated fly ash. Fly ash could replace highly energy consuming products and help preserve natural resources.

Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) play a crucial decisive role in the evaluation of all potentially new technologies at S2B Eco².
