Multi-functional coatings

Ever-growing requirements for surface protection regarding cost efficiency, reduction of emissions and functional attributes show that there is a permanent need for intelligent coating solutions. Protective coatings which can be formulated to adjustable functional use and are able to prolong the life-span of surfaces are in particularly high demand.

With support from sol gel-technology, customized coating systems can be generated, differentiated from established varnish systems mainly by their glazed polymer network structure and the diversity of their combinations of attributes. On this basis, high-end scrape and abrasion layers for metal or plastic surfaces can be produced, additionally equipped with functions such as anti-graffiti, easy-to-clean and anti-fingerprint effects.

  • To develop and market future-oriented innovations in the field of coating material for selected applications in the metal construction and plastics sector

 

We draw back on:
  • Multi-year experience in the field of sol gel-technology
  • Expertise in up-scaling of technical synthesis and coating procedures
  • Know-how in application-technological characterisation of nano-scale coating elements
  • Research networks with universities

 

We rely on:
  • Development and realisation of an industrial production technology for (nano-particulate) polyorganosiloxanes
  • Cooperation with industrial partners
  • Establishment of large-scale, continuous coating of flexible, ribbon-shaped supporting substrates with sol gel-nano varnish (i.e. binding, film coating)

 

Research and development projects:
  • Industrial sol-production and coating of flexible supporting substrates with nano-scale sol gel-material (BMBF project: research for tomorrow’s produc-tion / focus: Nano production launch)
