Solar Project – making flexible solar cells cost efficient

Creavis' Project Solar emerged from the Science-to-Business Center (S2B) Nanotronics, which conducted research into new materials for electronic applications between 2005 and 2011. During this time, an innovative, development approach for cost efficient flexible solar modules was identified.

Photovoltaics is a market with enormous growth potential and attractive areas of innovation. Industry experts predict that the global market for photovoltaic modules will grow by 85% between 2010 and 2015. In this market, thin-film solar cells have a huge potential, and this is precisely the area that Creavis' Solar Project will be investigating: The aim is to develop cost efficient, flexible solar cells that can be manufactured easily on rolls on a large scale. The low weight of the flexible solar cells will also open up new areas of application - especially on commercial flat roofs.
