Global ideas competitions and the Evonik Entrepreneurship Award for the winning team are important pillars of Evonik’s open innovation culture.
Evonik uses the global ideation jam format to pool the knowledge of employees from all over the world, to generate creative ideas, to assess the potential of these ideas, and ultimately, to develop a business model from them. The process starts online. Then, in a boot camp the participants are taught important skills on presenting and implementing their ideas, and the best idea is rewarded with the Evonik Entrepreneurship Award.
The entrepreneur of the year – a member of the winning team – will be given an entire year and a suitable budget to further develop their idea at Creavis. During this period, the entrepreneur will research the market and the customer requirements, create the technological foundation, and develop the idea toward the end product. Then, a decision is made on whether an Evonik business unit is prepared to invest money in developing the idea further.
